Share the love with residents

Sunshine Plaza, a shopping centre located in Maroochydore, Queensland, had a unique idea to brighten the spirits of Keyton residents in the month of love — February.
They invited the community to connect with residents from Allora Gardens, Buderim Gardens, Hibiscus Chancellor Park, Bellflower Retirement Resort, Hibiscus Nambour and Hibiscus Buderim Meadows by sending handwritten postcards to be delivered to them on Valentine’s Day.
Aiming to get 720 postcards handed across to residents, the messages could be anything - a personal story, a joke or a riddle to show love and care. Considering the love notes were meant to be written by someone who never met the residents, the writers were encouraged to imagine having a conversation with someone they would like to share a kind word with.
They could choose to write on postcards, scribble love notes or do both, whichever caught their fancy. As the Love Mail Post Office collected the postcards, a beautiful wisteria tree was installed at the Plaza to hold the notes exhibiting a tree of love and connection. After vetting, the postcards were distributed to the villages and the residents couldn’t get enough of their handwritten letters.
From letters of encouragement to notes of gratitude - it was no surprise that the residents were excited as they read the kind messages from strangers.
